What are Allergies in children?

An allergy is such an abnormal reaction of our immune system, to the things that are completely harmless to most people but not to your body. When a person becomes allergic towards a particular thing, then that person’s immune system mistakenly believes that that thing is harmful to the body. Food, dust, pollen, pet hair, certain medicines – these are some of the ingredients known as allergens.

In order to keep the body safe, the immune system produces antibodies called immunoglobulin E. These antibodies then cause certain cells to release chemically into the blood, including histamine, to fight against the foreign allergen or allergenic agent. Allergic reactions are seen due to the chemical release in the blood, which also has an effect on the eyes, nose, throat, skin, and digestive system. In the future, when coming in contact with the same allergen again, the same allergic reaction is seen.
